You can read some of the WIP chapters of that story right here in the Short-ish Stories section, those under the title of 'Ethel', which was the name of the story, but then it changed. Stories do that. It has been luxuriously illustrated by my dear friend Cranky and I hope beyond hope that we can bring it to you and many others in paper form!
Books one and two are available as add-ons, and there are stickers and badges and cool things besides! Without your help we won't be able to make any of it though, so please give generously and spread the news with everyone you know!
Good gravy what a set of weeks this was- my apologies for so many breaks in updating the comic! First I got very sick, and then I got more sick, and then my computer broke because of updating the software. Very trying. I am however now feeling much better and thanks to the efforts of my local computer repair shop hero I can once again draw (for now...). I will be taking measures to ensure I have alternative means of working in the future! Thanks for being patient, and I hope I can get back to your regular one-a-week TPoH page posting soon. In better news the rewards for the kickstarter are all sailing out in the mail as I write this, and when the surplus are back in the Topatoco store I will make a post to let you all know!
Thanks to everyone for the kind messages and support while I was taking my time to recuperate, I have been very careful only to resume work when I felt it was safe to do so, and at the moment it all seems to be going well! TPoH is back on track (though I will take a week off at the end of the month when we have family to visit), and the books from the TPatJ kickstarter have finally arrived in our warehouse in America! After all the rewards have been shipped out to the supporters, all the surplus books will go up on sale on the Topatoco store: that's the new hardback 'The Princess and the Jester', and the rerun of Volumes 1 and 2 of TPoH! I'll be announcing when they are up for sale on twitter (@UncleMod) and tumblr (modmad.tumblr.com) so your best way to get the news asap will be by following me on those platforms! I will of course try to remember to update this news feed as well!

Burnout is currently hitting me over the back of the head with a step ladder and the ref is doing Absolutely Nothing about it.
Hahaha but jokes aside I have actually managed to work on the next TPoH page this week on account of having had the sketch (the part which uses the Most Brain) done before I ploughed face-first into the dirt and lost all my braincells in the divorce, and it happens to be a simple page so while I could actually conceivably bung in the speech bubbles and text in time for tomorrow the issue is that I then would not be able to update for ????? who knows how long after that because... I am nowhere near recovered. I had a few days of being able to function this past week so I was optimistic, but then I’ve had a terrible last two days and zero sleep last night so I’ve gone backwards instead of forwards.
I’m afraid this whole burnout thing is taking much longer than any of us had hoped, but as many of you have said I literally can’t do anything about it other than try to rest and recover (which, hilariously, is now significantly harder as my brain is now able to process Guilt and Stress again! joy).
Consequently I’ve decided that I will sit on the page(s) I have done for TPoH until such a time as I feel that I can make reliably regular updates again. I figure a solid block of hiatus and then getting back to normal will be less frustrating for you/stressful for me than very erratic updates made in a vain attempt to say “hey hello I’m alive please don’t send flowers to my grieving parents”. In summary: the comic and all other work is on hold until I have recovered completely, as it appears that resuming work before then is only going to worsen things. Thank you for your patience.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Thanks to the hard work of my supporters we not only reached the base goal for the Kickstarter, but the stretch too! This means we will be able to print both The Princess and the Jester, and do a rerun of Vol 1 and 2 of The Property of Hate, so if you're dying to get your hands on those they will be back in stock in my shop some time next year. Thank you for signal boosting and getting me to where I am!
As a sort of reward for this (and owing to the fact that I haven't taken a holiday in over a year and a half) for health, sanity and family reasons I will be taking 2 weeks off from updating TPoH. This will refresh me, heal up my hands, and basically mean that I can get back to work at full steam in the new year (and boy, what a year this one was...).
Thank you for your patience and constant, constant supply of love and support, I read every message I receive and reply to all I can and really I am just staggered by the kindness you've all shown me and the work I make! I hope that I can continue to create stories and pictures that will make you smile for many years to come.
